DesJarlais' 2018 campaign largely funded outside 4th district
Rep. Scott DesJarlais' 2018 re-election campaign for U.S. Congress was largely funded with individual contributions outside of the 4th congressional district, according to the Federal Election Commission.
Out of $318,904 in total individual campaign contributions, $193,004 was contributed by supporters living in one of 10 Tennessee cities. Six of those cities are outside the 4th congressional district, which has been represented by DesJarlais since 2010.
Individuals living in Brentwood, Nashville, Franklin, Ooltewah, Collegedale and Knoxville, all of which are outside the district, contributed $110,800 to DesJarlais' 2018 re-election campaign. Those contributions make up nearly 35% of all individual contributions. Supporters from Murfreesboro, Shelbyville, Lewisburg and Winchester, all located within the 4th district, contributed a total of $82,204, which represents slightly more than 25% of the total contributions.
